“Be YOU! I am amazed everyday by our teens bravery to be the ones who break away from the ‘norm’ and live an authentic life.”
This week we say goodbye to AIR staff member, Melaney Brown. Melaney has blessed AIR with two years of service, serving one year as Program Development Americorps VISTA and one as AIR’s first program manager. Melaney, an avid traveler, will be leaving the northeast at the end of this month to pursue adventure in California.
The support Melaney has provided to AIR programming is admirable. She has an innate ability to connect with our teens and make all feel comfortable in her presence. She has made an enduring impact on our organization through her expansion of the Advance on AIR program and creation of the AIR Horn Blog. Melaney is so hardworking, intelligent and dedicated – we know she’ll thrive in her next chapter. She leaves behind a palpable absence, several office plants, and a secret hand signal for what one teen has dubbed, Melaney Weird Vibes.
Melaney asked if she could end this blog post post with a good-bye to the AIR community. I granted her request on the condition that she share her favorite check-in prompt from programs: “Traditionally, animal check-in. But this summer, my favorite was kitchen appliances.”
A Message from Melaney:
It has been an absolute privilege to work with Arts In Reach. I have learned so much from this job and that is a testament to the AIR Staff, Artists, Teens, and the whole AIR community. I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn from so many different people in just two years. From art lessons to life lessons and everything in between, I am grateful to this organization and will carry this knowledge wherever life takes me! Stay weird!
Thank you, Melaney, and may the circle go unbroken until next time.
