ROLE MODEL

A phenomenal woman is someone who doesn’t give up.
She doesn’t care what people think about her.
She is someone who takes chances
Someone you should look up to.
She has courage, a voice and understanding.
She reminds you to never live a life without love
And always bring love with arms wide open.

- Alexis and Lori

UNTOUCHABLE

Untouchable, like Wonder Woman
Inspirational, like a song with long lyrics
Unique, like every snowflake of winter
Warm, like a fire’s touch
Deep, like the largest ocean
Unwritten, like the thoughts of many
Fierce, like a lead lion
A leader, like presidents of the past.
Phenomenal, that is simply what these women are.

- Katriana

ANYTHING BUT PERFECT

A phenomenal woman could get frightened
She could give up a well-known trail, enlightened
She could forget
She could worry
She could scatter in a great fury.

A phenomenal woman could be all of these
She may be crazy
She may hate peas
But what matters most is if she’s true
Not just to herself, but to me and you
If she has a heart, right from the start
Then she truly is
Phenomenal.

- Elaina

My Fellow Women

I believe that a phenomenal woman
Can be a leader
Can be a giver
Can be a taker
My Mom

I believe that a phenomenal woman can be creative
Can be unorganized
Can be helpful
My best friend

I believe that a phenomenal woman
Can be decisive
Can be sarcastic
Can be protective
My cousin

I believe that a phenomenal woman can be scared
Can be wild
Can be undisciplined
My litter sister

I believe that a phenomenal woman
Lives inside all of us
Pushes us out of our box
Has the ability to make us smile
Can make us see that it’s ok to fail

I believe I am a phenomenal woman.

I SEE A GIRL

You look at me…
What do you see?
Do you see a happy girl?
Do you see a hurt girl?

You look at me, what do you see?
Do you see a heavy girl?

You know what I see?
I see a girl that’s trying to fit in with the world.
I see a girl that’s hurt everyday.
I see a girl who holds back her tears.

When I see me, in the future,
Do you know what I see?
I see, me
A successful, happy girl.

- Katie G.

TRULY

Can you see?
Look around
truly
only
phenomenal.
Phenomenal?
Oh yes
they are
women
and
girls
phenomenal
women and girls
can you see?
Look around
they are everywhere
they are
truly
only
phenomenal.

- Lily

DON’T EVER CHANGE

“If you’re lucky enough to be different, don’t change.”

In elementary school, I was always playing by myself in the sandbox or swings while the other kids played games together like four square. The strange part was that, I didn’t mind being alone during recess. I didn’t mind just being, me. But, secretly, there was always this other part of me that thought maybe there was something wrong with me for not being like the other girls. After elementary school, I thought middle school might be worse because of all the cliques. Turns out, I made so many friends and a lot of them were intrigued by the fact that I was different!

I never really knew if being known as “different” was actually a good thing, but my friends surprised me by saying that it was! Ever since then, I’ve felt more confident and less afraid to be open about who I am. My mother tells me that I am “an old soul” and that other people notice it too.

I’ve learned that, for sure, being different is good, and sometimes rare. So be grateful if you’re different, and don’t ever change!

- Angelica

DEEPER LOOK

When the words “phenomenal woman” are said I picture a classic suburban mother who looks like Donna Reed and cooks like Betty Crocker. Then I look deeper and think about it more. When I do, I see a woman who has suffered a lot, and I mean, a lot, and is still going. I think of a selfless woman who has shared the same hardships as someone else and helps them through it. I think of women who have lived through pain, cruelty and unfathomable hardships and lived to tell about it and educate others. She stays strong when others need her to be.

Phenomenal women are people who won’t give up, won’t give in. Won’t back down. Especially if it’s for something they believe in.

- Christine

I AM

I think I’m pretty phenomenal. Even though I’ve met a lot of people in my life who have hurt me and put me down, I can still put on a happy face and stand strong. Sometimes I have my days, but who doesn’t? I’m proud that I can express how I feel, what I think, and what I know. And I don’t ever have to use violence or cruelty to express myself, absolutely not! I use creativity! I paint, I write, I sing and I dance. I am an artist. That’s a phenomenal woman to me.

A phenomenal woman is someone who knows who they are and is proud of who they are. A phenomenal woman is someone, like me!

- Lauren L.

I Am

I am woman hear me sing
I am independent
I can do, anything
I am female see me smile
I am strong
But I will listen for a while
I am a girl and you listen to me
I will change the world
Just you wait and see

- Allura
